Politics of Hidalgo

Hidalgo plans its industrial activity as the main tool for economic development, mainly through mining, manufacturing, construction and electricity. The products highlighted among Hidalgo’s strongest exports are related to the manufacturing of railway transportation equipment, cotton, clothing, rubber and metallic products, machinery and mechanical devices. In Agriculture, Hidalgo shines as the nationwide leading producer of alfalfa and maguey. This state holds second place nationwide as producer of barley, third in green beans and fourth in oatmeal. In Livestock, Hidalgo holds first place in the production of wool and second in beef, as well as eighth place in the production of milk. In Mining, one of the State’s oldest industries, it is outstanding for its production of metallic minerals: first place in manganese and third in cadmium. Hidalgo holds eighth place in the production of copper and lead and second place as the nation’s largest producer of calcium carbonate. As a result of its integral and sustained competitive progress, Hidalgo aspires to a constant development of communications and infrastructure for generating and supplying energy and water, as well as equipment and infrastructure of educational and social services; human resources and developing new technologies, permanently caring for the preservation of the environment, which makes it possible to provide better development opportunities for the State’s productive sectors, as well as a more homogenous and balanced participation in the various regions involved in its economic dynamic.
